A Man About Style has partnered with Le Foodie co & Maasi Development Project to help a young entrepreneur achieve her dream. Tomonik is a young Kenyan girl from the Maasai Development Project. Maasai Development Project rescues young girls from Female Genital Mutilation and forced marriage. Tomonik’s story has inspired us since she is an aspiring entrepreneur. After graduating from secondary school, she began baking bread in a coal oven that the MDP has at their center. Her passion for bread making grew with her skills and she began selling bread in her village. Tomonik’s bread has since gained popularity and she has fallen in love with the business of baking. She now wants to open a bakery!  With every purchase of a Le Foodie Co bakers delight T-shirt this quarter, they are donating 20% of the net proceeds from the  "Bakers Delight" T-shirts and 10% of the net proceeds from the other t-shirts to help Tomonik bring her vision to life! So help us change a life fashionably.

About Maasi Development Project.

MDP Sponsored Children:

  • MDP Education Center(MDPEC) was founded in November 2010.  The centre has been home to over 70 girls throughout the years. Working with the Child Services Department, MDPEC is a home that is a safe refuge for many girls that have been rescued from forced early marriage, FGM (Female Genital Mutilation), or have been “at-risk”. They are orphaned or come from a single parent household who cannot support them and are at risk of being sold into marriage by a close family member.  MDP provides a safe environment to live and provides education to each child, through college, university or technical School, resulting from their government qualifying exam scores.

MDP Sponsored Trips:

MDP provides the opportunity for people around the world to join them for free medical/dental mission trips to the interior of Maasailand.  Thus, sharing the opportunity to serve the Maasai community in remote areas with much needed medical and dental needs. These trips also provide opportunities to do building projects and work with our children. On the mission trips a safari is also provided with a stay at a 5-star safari camp.

MDP Awareness Speaking:

MDP welcomes the opportunity to come to your school, church, organization, or fundraiser to help bring awareness to the plight of the “at risk” girls in Maasailand. School presentations provide a hands-on opportunity for children to experience another culture.
